Biografía
Georg Oskar Erler (Dresde, 1871 – Bad Reichenhall, 1950) fue un pintor, grabador y profesor alemán, destacado principalmente por su obra gráfica.
Se formó en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y en la Academia de Arte de Dresde, donde fue discípulo de Gotthardt Kuehl. Completó su formación con viajes a París, Múnich y Roma.
Instalado en Dresde, alcanzó pronto reconocimiento, obteniendo importantes premios y una beca en Roma. Fue cofundador del grupo Die Elbier y participó en la vida artística de la ciudad.
Entre 1913 y 1937 fue profesor de dibujo figurativo, siendo una figura influyente en la enseñanza artística. Destacó especialmente como grabador al aguafuerte y caricaturista, faceta que le dio gran popularidad.
Su obra se centra en la gráfica, con paisajes, vistas urbanas y figuras, siempre guiadas por un ideal de armonía y belleza. Gran parte de su producción se perdió en el bombardeo de Dresde en 1945. Sus últimos años transcurrieron en Baviera.

Georg Oskar Erler (Dresden, 1871 – Bad Reichenhall, 1950) was a German painter, printmaker and professor, mainly known for his graphic work.
He studied at the Dresden School of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts under Gotthardt Kuehl, later traveling to Paris, Munich and Rome.
He settled in Dresden and quickly gained recognition, receiving awards and a scholarship in Rome. He co-founded the artist group Die Elbier.
From 1913 to 1937 he taught figure drawing, becoming an influential teacher. He excelled in etching and caricature, which brought him wide popularity.
His work focuses on printmaking, including city views, landscapes and figures, guided by ideals of harmony and beauty. Much of his work was lost during the bombing of Dresden in 1945. He spent his final years in Bavaria.

Professeur de dessin de 1913 à 1937, il exerça une influence notable. Il se distingua particulièrement dans l’eau-forte et la caricature.
Son œuvre graphique comprend paysages, vues urbaines et figures, dans une recherche d’harmonie. Une grande partie fut détruite lors du bombardement de Dresde en 1945. Il termina sa vie en Bavière.
